As the summer season comes to an end it’s time to mark your calendars for the Fall season events here at the Club. The women’s fall schedule is highlighted with their Annual Member-Member (The Clock Tower) while the men’s schedule is highlighted by their Annual Member-Member (The Wine Press). We finish the month of September with our annual Men’s Guest Day on Wednesday, September 25.  The Club will again come together to support the fight against breast cancer as we conduct our annual Play for Pink event on October 23rd. Finally, one of the staff’s favorite event at the Club is the annualMember-Employee golf event. Members team up with Bridges’ staff to enjoy our beautiful course, food and prizes on Monday, October 28.

The heat and humidity are our biggest challenge to green speed this time of year. The bentgrass growth is at its peak, we have to water more due to the heat, and the overall humidity can cause a puffy condition with the bentgrass. We brush, roll, apply growth regulators, and double cut once per week to achieve green speed. Some of the more effective and aggressive practices such as verticutting and grooming are called off in hot weather due to the mechanical stress put on the plant. Stay cool out there as we go through this hot week with cooler temperatures ahead.
